-Visit the website, submit the relevant documents and also pay the fee online.

Several changes have been introduced in the rules pertaining to Driving License applications by the Union Ministry of Transport. These changes include the related services, including the registration of vehicles and renewal of driving licenses. Many services have been made online in the wake of corona and time has proved that online processes are less cumbersome than the offline processes.

The states that will entertain only online applications are Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar. It may be noted that online application system has already been implemented by Bihar, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The steps to be followed by the individuals for the driving licenses are as hereunder:

  • Visit the website https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan//en
  • Click on Online Services tab on homepage (it will show you the dropdown menu with several services)
  • Choose the Driving License Related Services option
  • Select the state in which you are seeking services
  • A new window with several options will open including the Apply Driving License option. Choose this option and fill the form. Upload all relevant documents.

For learning license under the new system, the applicant has to deposit money as soon as the slot is booked online. After the payment, the applicant can choose the date for online examination as per convenience. The applicant will not have to wait in the District Transport Office to get the license issued; instead he can take a print of the document and visit the office only for online test.
