The chemical-laden water polluting the water reaching Bagdarah Nature Park has prompted action from the forest department. This concerning matter  has sparked investigations into nearby factories to pinpoint the sources of pollution.

According to DFO DK Tiwari, factories previously issued notices will undergo inspection, aided by the Pollution Control Board (PCB), to evaluate the treatment of contaminated water. The findings will guide subsequent actions to address the issue effectively.

Recent testing of Bagdarah’s water, following reports of chemical seepage, unveiled alarming increases in fluoride levels, reaching up to ten times the acceptable limit. Additionally, elevated levels of hardness, turbidity, and sodium were detected, raising further concerns about water quality.

The presence of approximately 14-15 factories in close proximity to the reserve, dealing with phosphate, chemicals, crushers, and fertilizers, underscores the urgency of the situation.
