Udaipur Municipal Council’s (UMC) present BJP board presented a memorandum to Roop Kumar Khurana, Chairman, UIT today morning and demanded to include city councillors as trustees in UIT.
Today, the ruling board of the Municipal Council with its councillors and party members gave a memorandum to the UIT Chairman, in which Phool Singh Meena and Rakhi Mali, the councillors of Ward 31 and 37 respectively demanded to be included as Trustees of UIT so as to insure overall development of the town.
According to party members, as a practice the Councillor elected by the ruling party in the council was appointed as Trustee, but since the last two years, no one has been appointed in UIT, though elections for the same were conducted on 15th February 2010 and recommendations for both Phool Singh Meena and Rakhi Mali were forwarded to the Trust.
In the absence of public representatives in the Trust, overall development of the city is adversely affected. Moreover, the individuals and board have limited time to serve the common mass through good work. In the present scenario, no notable improvement was done in colonies and the city, one of the pending issues being the four lane road between Bhuwana and Pratap Nagar, Madri Circle, etc.
Rajni Dangi, Chairperson, UMC said “Councillor is the only one who works as a bridge between both the administrative bodies and in whose absence of whom, the link between public, Municipal Council and UIT suffers on grounds of development”.
