Tarachand Jain, City MLA, asked officials to provide video evidence of people dumping debris or waste into the riverbed for appropriate legal action by police
Udaipur, April 26 2025 - Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain visited Alipura yesterday, April 25, to inspect the on-going work at Ayad river. During the inspection, he expressed strong displeasure upon seeing debris on the riverbed and directed officials to have it removed immediately. He also gave instructions to promptly demarcate the river boundaries and construct walls to prevent illegal encroachments.
Nagar Nigam Superintendent Engineer Mukesh Pujari assured that the debris and filling would be removed through the garage department of the municipality.
Local residents informed the MLA that the dumping was being done at night using tractors. To this MLA Jain instructed officials to install iron poles at the entry points to the river to prevent access by four-wheeled vehicles. He also asked officials to provide video evidence of people dumping debris or waste into the river to the police for appropriate legal action.
He also raised concerns about a temporary culvert that has become permanent and may obstruct monsoon water flow. He ordered for its removal and also instructed that any culverts built on the river should be narrow, straight and only wide enough to allow two-wheelers.
MLA Jain suggested that the space between the wall and the fencing should be developed into a pathway and trees planted, allowing residents to walk along the river. In response to local resistance during fencing, he called for police presence to ensure smooth execution and strict action against any obstruction or violence.
Present at the site were Girwa Sub-Divisional Officer Sonika Kumari, UDA Tehsildar Dr Abhinav Sharma and Girwa Tehsildar Ranjeet Singh among other officials.
