City Progress revealed by UIT ChairmanUIT Chairman Roop Kumar Khurana discussed a number of running projects in and around the city and gave a broader overview of the upcoming UIT budget plan 2012 – 13 in a meet the with local media personnel today morning.

In his talk, the following projects and developments were mentioned:

Avoid water clogging in rainy season

UIT has passed a work order of nearly Rs. 70 lacs to make the drainage system proper, so that local mass residents in downstream areas don’t have to face coalescence in the coming rainy season. This was announced, keeping in mind the past two years and complains from different parts of the city.

On UIT Budget of 2012 – 13

The Chairman said that though the UIT budget is just an estimate of the yearly expenses, it is being assured that there will not be a deviation of more than 25–30% from the estimated amount.

Ahad River is also included since it has been observed that development is never implemented due to absence of DPR (Daily Project Report) from the past 8 years.

The sewerage plant is another project which failed to be get implemented after investing 4 crore rupees, as the land is not available due to the court’s stay order on the existing land. To ensure the implementation this time though, HZL has been involved for solving the issue and implementing the construction.

Master Plan of Udaipur

“We do not have any excuse as have already invested more than Rs. 25 crore, which includes both Vibhuti Park and Khel Gaon, in which Rs. 7 crore and Rs. 17 crore have been consumed respectively. The work at Vibhuti Park has already started and Khel Gaon will be initiated with construction rate of Rs. 60/sq. feet”, he said.

Housing Board Plan for BPL

Nothing much can be expected for the Housing Board Plan due to scarcity of flat lands in and around town. A planning has been started at Baidwas near Pratap Nagar in which more than 500 houses will be constructed, though the requirement far out paces the planned development.
