According to an official statement, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ordered officials to guarantee the timely supply and distribution of DAP and urea to farmers for the sowing of rabi crops. CM Gehlot gave the instructions regarding supply of fertilisers and electricity in a meeting held on Monday 20 March, 2023.
The chief minister instructed staff to take all necessary precautions to prevent any interruptions in the power supply to farmers of the state. The release stated that farmers should be provided with enough power to irrigate rabi crops.
According to Gehlot, the government is devoted to ensuring that farmers have access to fertilisers for planting rabi crops. He was told that rabi sowing had risen by 15 lakh hectares compared to last year as a result of good rainfall in October.
"There has been an increase of about 103 per cent in sowing of wheat, 87 per cent in barley, 16 per cent in mustard and taramira, 27 per cent in gram and about 56 per cent in other crops as compared to last year. Due to more sowing, the demand for fertilisers, especially urea, has increased across the state.” - Release stated
