Municipal Commissioner says classes were being conducted in the basement of residential building
Udaipur, September 26, 2024: The Udaipur Nagar Nigam has taken significant action against a coaching centre located in Ashok Nagar and sealed it. This was done yesterday, September 25, 2024, under the orders of Ram Prakash, Udaipur Municipal Commissioner, because the centre was operating in the basement of a building and was not in compliance with the directives of the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission, Jaipur.
Ram Prakash, Udaipur Municipal Commissioner, stated that the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission, Jaipur, has issued a directive to ensure the safety of youngsters studying and residing in coaching centres across the city. It has recommended legal action against coaching centres, libraries, and student accommodations that operate in unsafe, irregular or non-compliant conditions. The order also made it mandatory to provide sufficient fire safety equipment and security measures to avoid any inconvenience to students.
The Commissioner further said the building in Ashok Nagar had been approved for residential construction. However, the owner was conducting commercial activities in the basement, ground and first floor of the building. The authorities have sealed all three floors until further orders.
Officials present at the spot included Revenue Inspector Vijay Jain, assistant Town Planner Vijay Singh Damor and Jitendra Meghwal.
