A woman committed suicide on Monday in her house allegedly due to dowry harassment.

Preeti w/o Deepak Bharti, a resident of Nathi Ghat, Brahm Pol hung herself at her home on Monday at 6am. She was an MBA and worked as a lecturer at Maharaja College.

Her family residing in Ganganagar, when informed about this, reached Udaipur and accused her in-laws of harassing their daughter for dowry.

Preeti was married to Deepak one and a half year back in February 2011 and had been complaining to her parents regarding the harassment she was facing on dowry demands and asked her parents many a time to take her back. She even went back to her parents after some time of her marriage but was brought back by her father-in-law.

Preeti’s father, Mulchand Goswami has also alleged that Deepak had an affair with someone because of whom he neglected Preeti, an allegation which is denied by Deepak’s family and friends.

Deepak’s family refused all the allegations put against them and said that they never made any such demands. They said that Deepak himself is a MBA and is working in a private company and there is no shortage of money in the family to make any such demand.

They added further that as Deepak was not satisfied with his job he had applied for other jobs but was not successful. This was the only reason he remained worried these days and he and his family never made any demands for dowry.

Preeti’s body was given to her family after the postmortem.
