Lakshyaraj Singh Opens Conclave On World Standards Day

Udaipur, October 8, 2024 - On the occasion of World Standards Day 2024, a Stakeholders Conclave was organised on Monday, October 7, under the joint aegis of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Rajasthan and Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. The meeting, A Shared Vision for a Better World: Inclusion of SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), centred on constructing strong infrastructure, advocating inclusive and sustainable industrial development and encouraging innovation.

In the inaugural speech, chief guest Dr Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar stressed on the need to promote quality and standardisation in India and said that standards play a key role in the transformation of the 21st century into a golden era for the nation. He added that we should take pride in our national standards, which make our lives simpler and safer. He also emphasised that prioritising quality in the Make in India initiative is essential for Indian industries to be competitive in the global market.

The conclave was attended by a total of 35 people including Kanika Kalia, Director of BIS Jaipur, Ashu Gupta, Vice President of the Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning and more than 200 stakeholders from Udaipur, Rajsamand, Bhilwara and Chittorgarh.

Dr Mewar administered an oath to the participants, committing them to quality and standardization.
