Udaipur, December 18,2024 - The Rajasthan Education Department has issued a ban on teachers conducting tuition classes in coaching centers. Teachers can only provide private tuition to a maximum of three students at their homes, with prior approval from the school principal. This decision aims to reduce the dependence on private tuition.

School principals have been tasked with enforcing this ban. If complaints are received against teachers conducting private tuition, action will be taken by the concerned control officer.

Vacant Teacher Positions in Udaipur

In Udaipur, there are 3,996 operational schools with 4.25 lakh students. However, the district currently has 2,067 vacant second-grade teacher positions. This shortage is affecting the quality of education and contributing to the demand for private tuition.

Objective of the Ban

The primary objective of the ban is to minimize the need for private tutoring. Large class sizes and teachers' lack of responsibility in some cases have led to students seeking private tuition. The department regularly issues such orders to address this issue.

Guidelines for Home Tuition

Teachers can provide tuition to a maximum of two students in higher secondary and secondary classes, and three students in higher primary classes. However, they must get permission from the school principal. The tuition should not affect the regular teaching at the school.

Many English, Science, and Math teachers are sent on deputation to other departments, which affects their teaching duties. These teachers are also assigned non-academic tasks, leading to an incomplete curriculum. As a result, private tuition becomes necessary for some students.
