Hiran Magri Sector 4 (Ward 31) and nearby areas, including Chanakyapuri, were in an uproar on October 3,2024 due to the supply of contaminated water by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). Residents were shocked to find extremely dirty water in their containers, leading to widespread anger.

Water Supply Suspended

A crowd of frustrated residents gathered at the water supply station. Following their complaints, officials quickly took action and halted the water supply. Workers were called in to clean the water tank once again. Meanwhile, water supply to the entire area remained suspended. 

Department Held Responsible 

Mahendra Singh Devra, a resident of Chanakyapuri, mentioned that such issues with the water supply are frequent. He expressed concern that contaminated water is causing many people to fall ill. He also accused the department of neglecting proper management of the supply.

Few Households Affected 

Assistant Engineer Nirmal Sharma explained that water is supplied every other day in the area. He mentioned that the high reservoir was cleaned a day earlier, but the sediment had not fully dissolved. After reports of dirty water, the supply was stopped, and the tank was cleaned again. He added that only a few households were affected by the issue.
