Udaipur has not reported any positive cases over the weekend and 36 COVID patients across Rajasthan have recovered.

After the initial scare of one patient being identified and 3 more of the same family being tested positive towards the last fews days of the week gone by, Udaipur is under control.

Thanks to the exemplary efforts of the administration, healthcare department and the strict maintenance of law and order, coupled with the support from the people of Udaipur, the City of Lakes has been at its best behavior. If the lockdown was not adhered to in spirit, and the law and order was not imposed with such strictness, it probably would have been a different story for Udaipur,” - CMHO, Dr Dinesh Kharade

He further requested the people of Udaipur to continue this support.  He also warned people from getting together in clusters to procure milk and vegetables from the vendors.  Dr Dinesh said that it is important that social distancing become a new normal for weeks to come, to ensure that this disease is controlled. This support is warranted for the next few months.

No new cases in Udaipur District

No news positive cases have been reported in the 283 samples that have been tested in Udaipur.  The curfew and lockdown are in place and residents across the city have been observing the regulations in spirit.

Udaipur residents observe Light Out @9PM in their unique way

Residents across the city adhered to the Light Out @9 instructions of PM Modi in their own unique ways. Diyas were lighted, residents stepped out to their balconies and terraces with Candles and Mobile Phone torch, the Muslims said the Azaan at various places, National Anthem in communities, etc.  This was probably the first time in the history of the nation, as the citizens challenge a common enemy, that Candles, Mobile Torch, Diyas as well as lights lit up each house simultaneously.  Azaan was recited at various Muslim houses and Mantras were chanted at other houses.  In the Dawoodi Bohra neighborhood in Kharol Colony, history was made as residents recited the Azaan, National Anthem, Vande Mataram and shouts of Bharat Mata ki Jai simultaneously.  It was the sound of a secular nation that has upped its ante against its common enemy – COVID19.

As per information provided by Habib in his report, residents also partly opposed this message, by turning off the news channels for 9 minutes at 9PM, and inspite of burning candles, went across lighting the stoves of the poor.  We noticed that some people were also bursting fire crackers, which was not appreciated by other residents as they felt that it was a moment of chaos in the country and not of celebration.
