Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin has received approval from DCGI for emergency use in children in the age group of 2 to 18 years. The Hyderabad based company has completed phase 2 and 3 trials in the 2-18 year olds.

The Subject Expert Committee recommended for grant of market authorisation of the vaccine. The vaccine will be administered in 2 doses with a gap of 20 days between the 1st and 2nd dose. The authorities will soon begin to administer the doses for which a rollout plan is yet to be disclosed by the government.
