Maharashtra is facing a tough time. With the way the covid cases are increasing, the state government has warned that if the protocols are not followed, other states are very likely to witness another wave of the virus which could prove to be fatal.

Yes, the protocols are not being followed by more than 50 percent of the population. Some of the people are negligent enough and are over-confident that the virus cannot affect them and/or have no fear of getting infected. People are also of the opinion that the phase of this infection is almost over and this is the main reason behind the surge in Maharashtra.

As per an expert, the misconception is making the people fearless and all the protocols have been brushed away. Masks are a big NO for most of the people. “The virus has not mutated to such an extent that it can be blamed for the surge in the covid patients”, as stated by Dr Salunkhe who is the technical adviser to Maharashtra government on Covid-19 control.

Some of the experts have also said that now the public is reporting late considering their symptoms as “not of the virus but of common flu”. Last year the moment they developed symptoms similar to Covid-19; they rushed to the hospital for scanning.

People have almost given up wearing masks in most of the states. The masks hanging on their chins prove that they use them only when they spot some vigilance team around. People must realise that the virus is too quick in spreading and wearing masks is the only way to keep oneself safe.

After the first shot of vaccination, most of the people have formed a misconception that masks are not needed anymore. Most of them have gone through only one part of the information about the vaccine and have become negligent. Even with the vaccine around, people are still required to wear masks to stay safe and they must wear it like any other necessary accessory for safety.

The old and the aged, middle aged and many youngsters can be seen moving around without masks. The children are also following the elders and are comfortably moving around without wearing masks. If this is the scene and it continues, many states will soon report a rise in covid cases which has already begun. We might land up in a stage where vaccination will not help in any way.

We request you to WEAR MASKS IN THE PROPER WAY, MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING, and STOP THE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WEAR MASKS AND FORCE THEM TO WEAR ONE BY TELLING THEM THAT THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO RISK THE LIVES OF OTHERS. Your life is in your hands; do not allow it to be swallowed by the virus.
