COVID enters the Banking system in Udaipur - 4 cases reported from ICICI Madhuban
It has been observed by UdaipurTimes that the number of positive cases is not reported correctly on the website of Department of Medical, Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Rajasthan. The number of total positive cases in Rajasthan has been wrongly reported in the major dailies of Udaipur.

30 deaths realted to COVID have been reported in Udaipur till date.  With 2121 positive cases and nearly 500 active cases, the city of lakes stands in a precarious position.  While most of the cases are aysmptomatic, the number of deaths have gone up exponentially.

The number of cases in Udaipur are rising by the day. While the average number of positive cases rose from 5 per day in June to 19 per day in July, the number of cases in August is averaging at 43 per day. 51 cases were reported today, taking the total number of cases in Udaipur till date to 2121. The number of active cases has crossed 450. The number of positive cases in August due to close contact stands at 57%, while migrants make up just 2%. The remaining 41% are local new cases, identified through random sampling. 62% of the total positive cases in August belong to the Udaipur city municipal area, while 38% belong to upcountry and rural areas.

CMHO Dr Dinesh Kharadi said that the lack of observing social distancing among the people of Udaipur and comprehensive random sampling as well as sample testing of super spreaders over the last 20 days has resulted in the increase in the number of cases. A major cause of concern is the rising number of deaths in the district. 5 deaths were reported in the beginning of July. 9 more deaths took place in July taking the figure up to 14. However, in just last 19 days of August, 16 more deaths have been reported, with 8 being reported yesterday. The total number of deaths in Udaipur due to COVID stands at 30 as per CMHO numbers.

Of the cases picked up from Debari, Ambamata, Shobhagpura, Sunderwas, Sindhi bazar and Hiran Magri, 4 were employees of ICICI Bank Madhuban and 3 were staff of Nagar Nigam.  Both ICICI Bank Madhuban and Nagar Nigam premises have been sealed to public access for the next 72 hours. Sanitization of the premises and contact tracing and testing of employees of these two units will take place over the next 72 hours. Those persons who have visited ICICI Bank Madhuban or Nagar Nigam in the last 10 days should have their samples tested for COVID19.

The CMHO has also confirmed that inspite of the deadline given by the District Collector to all super spreaders to have themselves tested before 24 August, the number of voluntary sampling is still not satisfactory. This will add to more cases in future and contact infection might result in more deaths due to the disease.
