The 30 year old home guard was tested positive for COVID 19 in the late night hours today. This information was received from the Chief Medical Officer Dr Dinesh Kharade at 0045hrs on Thursday, 7 May.
The patient is a resident of Kanji ka Hata, near Kalaji Goraji in south Udaipur and he has been taken to hospital. The patient, 30 years old, works with Home Guards. He stays near Kanji ka Hata and his wife is a cleaner with the municipal corporation of Udaipur. The patient and his father along with 11 members of the family are already admitted. His close contacts are being traced and rounded up. Police and the health department officials are on their toes following up on the 16th positive case in Udaipur.
With the health department already struggling with the 6 members of the same family who were tested positive earlier this week in Savina, this case, that of a home guard will raise the alarm in the Home Guard and Police department. Udaipur now has 10 existing positive cases, while 6 have been tested negative in multiple testin rounds.
Now that the migrant workers transportation has begun, Udaipur is likely to witness more cases. The health department has increased its vigil following the incoming exodus of workers from Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra, which are red zone states.
The imposition of Curfew in Surajpol, takes the count of curfew areas in Udaipur city area to 5. Sukher, Pratapnagar, Hiran Magri and Savina are the other 4 police stations already under curfew. Curfew in Surajpol means that all the relief measures of Lockdown 3 will be revoked in the area with immediate effect. Spraying of hydrochloride in the area has already begun.
