There is no shortage of Covid vaccine in India. The central government announced on Thursday 11th March about adequate supplies of the vaccine and also that the price of Covishield vaccine has been re-negotiated and the vaccine would henceforth cost less than 200 rupees.

The private hospitals were allowed to charge 250 rupees for the vaccination, but now onwards the reduced prices will apply. The government will soon announce the reduced price of the vaccine.  Covishield is one of the vaccines along with Covaxin that have been granted emergency use authorization in India.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, dismissed the claims of Chief Minister of Rajasthan that the state has shortage of vaccines and assured that there are sufficient vaccine supplies across the country.

It may be noted that in the second phase of vaccination, senior citizens are very enthusiastically going in for the jab and people over 45 years of age with co-morbidities are also getting vaccinated.
