Sajjangarh Biological park has turned into a nursery with baby crocodiles. Last week, the biological park welcomed 16 baby crocodiles. The babies hatched last week from the eggs laid by a female crocodile at Sajjangarh biological park. This was the first time that baby crocodiles were born in Sajjangarh biological park.

District Forest Officer Harini V informed that the baby crocodiles are in observation stage currently and it is only after a week will their exact health situation become clearer. No one is currently going near the baby crocodiles.

Wildlife expert Dr Satish Sharma informed that a female crocodile can lay from 3 to 40 eggs at one time. He said that in natural habitat, it is difficult for crocodile babies to survive because of attack from other land and water animals. However, the situation in Biological park is conducive for them to survive and grow. Here, the female crocodile is able to handle the attack on her babies from her male counterpart in a much better manner. He said that administration will have to ensure that pond water is clean to prevent babies from infection.
