Customers need not pay delivery charges for LPG gas cylinder-HPCL

-HPCL specified that the customers do not have to pay the extra charges demanded by the delivery men.

-There are no rules or instructions to domestic gas distributors to collect extra amount other than the retail selling price.

There have been queries directed to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation limited (HPCL) regarding the delivery charges to be paid to the men delivering LPG cylinders at door step. HPCL, in response to the Right to Information (RTI) petition, mentioned that customers need not pay delivery charges to men delivering the gas cylinders.

“The responsibility of the gas distributor is to deliver the gas cylinder at the doorstep of the consumer irrespective of the floor location in the building/flats without collecting any additional charge other than the amount mentioned in the bill,” HPCL said in its reply to RTI filed by a resident in Hyderabad.

It has also been reported that the prices of the gas cylinders may change every week from now onwards. These prices are fixed on a monthly basis currently but the fluctuations in prices of petroleum products might result in the change of price of LPG every week.

It may be noted that petrol and diesel prices change every day, as a result the petroleum companies easily adjust to change in global crude prices. The prices of LPG cylinders change on monthly, hence the companies have to bear losses on their own. In the wake of daily change in prices of petroleum, the LPG companies are considering changes their prices on weekly basis. No announcement has yet been made in this respect, though the changes are quite likely.
