Daughter returns- Case of Teacher’s suicide

Last month a teacher’s family committed suicide by consuming poison. It is said that the elder daughter’s marriage against the family’s wish lead to this mass suicide.

Elder daughter Komal who was missing since Teacher Vinod Sharma and his family committed suicide has returned. Komal reported in the police station with her husband Prithviraj on Monday. As per the statement given by Komal, she got married two years back. Earlier she did not leak the news of her marriage with Prithviraj to anyone.

Komal gave details to Pratapnagar police as per which she and Prithviraj have been neighbours since a long time. They even studied in the same school and college. Their families were aware of their affection for each other. Komal had several arguments with her father regarding this matter. After letting her parents know of her marriage on the day of Karvachauth, she left home to live with her husband.

After this incident, the entire family was scared of being a target of social mockery. The teacher Vinod, his wife Kalpana, son Nikhil and younger daughter consumed poison. Vinod Sharma also left a suicide note but did not mention anything about Komal in any way. Police say that since there is no mention of Komal in the suicide note, she cannot be held responsible for this. She is an adult and has the right to marry a person of her choice.

After consuming poison, younger daughter had called up her uncle asking him to save them. Before her uncle could take any step to save them, all four members died in hospital. After this mass suicide, people had mentioned that Komal’s affair was the reason behind this step. Komal’s mobile phone was switched off; hence police could not contact her in anyway. She was untraceable for a long time. Once her mobile was switched on, police asked her to report in the police station.
