Around 3,500 voters are expected to participate; 27 members to contest the election; 21 to be elected
Udaipur, November 30, 2024 - The 15th general elections of the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, affiliated with the reformist Bohra community, will be held tomorrow, December 1, 2024, at the Jamaat Khana in Bohrawadi, Udaipur.
Election Convenor Anees DM informed that a total of 27 candidates will contest the election. Of these, 21 members will be selected through the voting process. Of the 27 candidates in the fray, six are women.
Around 3,500 voters, 50% of which are reportedly women, will take part in the voting which will begin at 8:00 am and conclude at 5:00 pm. The counting process will be conducted the same day, which is tomorrow evening, at the Jamaat Khana.
The Election Convenor added that four booths have been set up at the Jamaat Khana with approximately 800-900 voters to each booth. He appealed to the voters of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat to participate in large numbers in the election.
Election committee spokesperson Anees Miyaji said the entire process will be conducted in a fair, transparent and democratic manner, under the leadership of Chief Election Officer Virendra Singh Solanki, Assistant Election Officer JS Panwar and their team.
Election to the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat is held every three years. Once the 21 members have been elected, they will co-opt 11 members from the community. Together, the 32 members will then select members to the Cabinet.
