New Goods Depot at Debari Railway Station in Udaipur
North Western Railway is set to construct a new goods warehouse at Debari railway station due to increased loading and unloading activities in Udaipur.
Udaipur, Aug 15, 2025: As a result of the increase in the loading and unloading of goods in Udaipur, the North Western Railway is planning to construct a new goods warehouse at Debari railway station.
Currently, goods are loaded and unloaded at Rana Pratap Nagar station, but there are plans to relocate this process to the new facility a few kilometers away, at Debari. The increasing number of passengers at Rana Pratap Nagar station has limited the available space for goods operations. At present, there are urgent arrangements needed to lift goods directly from the freight train, exposing them to potential damage from rain.
The establishment of a new goods warehouse at Debari will alleviate this issue. B L Kumawat, the Assistant Engineer for the Ajmer Division of North Western Railway, mentioned that the anticipated cost for the Debari yard is about Rs 4.54 Crore. The tendering phase has been finalized, and construction work is expected to commence by the end of September 2025.
The Debari goods warehouse will include a sheltering facility, ensuring loading and unloading processes are secure and systematically organized. The railway authorities believe that the loading and unloading capacity will improve at the Debari warehouse, leading to increased revenue.
Additionally, its closeness to the Khemli container depot adds to the strategic significance of the new warehouse. It is important to note that loading and unloading for entities such as FCI, RSMML, and fertilizer manufacturing companies is currently being conducted at Rana Pratap Nagar station.
