Defamation notice served to Baba Ramdev

A six-page notice has been served to Baba Ramdev for damaging the reputation and image of allopathy.

The yoga guru's remarks have been termed as "criminal act" under IPC Section 499.

The Indian Medical Association has served a defamation notice to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev alleging the defamation of allopathy and allopathic doctors. Ramdev has been asked to serve an apology within 15 days failing which the IMA will demand a compensation of rupees 1000 crores from him.

A six-page notice has been served on behalf of IMA Secretary Ajay Khanna by lawyer Neeraj Pandey. The notice mentions of the damage to the reputation of allopathy and the doctors and the remarks of the yoga guru have been mentioned as “criminal act” under IPC Section 499.

The 1000 crore rupees are at the rate of 50 lakh rupees per member of the IMA. As per the notice, Ramdev must make a video clip contradicting all his false and defamatory allegations, and circulate it on all the social media platforms where he had uploaded his earlier video clip levelling the allegations.

The yoga guru has also been asked to withdraw a “misleading” advertisement endorsing coronil kit as an effective medicine for covid-19 failing which an FIR and criminal case will be lodged against him by IMA.
