Delhi CM Assaulted During Public Hearing, Suspect Held
'Attacker' was posing as a complainant; Rekha Gupta taken to hospital

Aug 20, 2025 - Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked at a public hearing at her residence this morning. The CM was holding the weekly Jansunwai at her residence when a man, said to be in his 30s, approached her and allegedly assaulted her.
The CM had to be rushed to the hospital. The suspect has been caught and said to be identified as Rajesh Sakaria of Rajkot in Gujarat.
According to sources, the man went up close to the CM carrying papers in his hands and pretending to be a complainant. He then reportedly slapped her and pulled her by the hair.
Senior officers of Delhi Police have secured the Chief Minister’s premises while investigation behind the reported assault is being carried out.
