Now that the process of deepening of Fathesagar Lake and Lake Pichola is going on, it is being demanded that the same process be carried out for Nela talab as well. Nela talab is water body in Sector 14 and the residents of the area and public representatives are demanding that the bed of this water body must be treated the same way as the other prominent lakes of the city.

The demand is valid since the deepening process can be done now as it has not yet started raining and the talab can store more water when monsoons start with full swing. It may be noted that Nela talab has gone almost completely dry in the absence of good rains in 2018. It may also be noted that UIT carried out the beautification of the area around this water body to facilitate public who frequently visits this place during morning and evening for walks and relaxation.
