Work on demolition of the top two floors of Varun Mall has started. It may be noted that High Court had passed an order seeking demolition of the top two floors that had been illegally constructed without permission.

Varun Mall, situated at Badbuja Ghati had come under scanner after the top two floors were found to have been constructed without legal permission. High Court had demanded a demolition of the two floors and the report needs to be submitted to the court by 10 August.

Basis the High Court order, the builders have initiated the demolition of the top two floors at their own level. The builders, Arora Khatri Panchayat via Vijay Arora initiated the demolition on Tuesday by employing their labours.

The mall is currently under seizure by the Municipal Corporation. Third floor with 27 shops and the fourth floor having the hall were released from seizure so that the labourers could go there to carry out the demolition.

Once the builders give a detailed demolition report of the top two floors to the High Court, the balance shops will be released from seizure by the Municipal Corporation.
