Udaipur, December 2,2024 - In a recent Lake Dialogue held on Sunday, lake conservation activists took a stand against the ongoing destruction of small lakes in Udaipur. During the event, participants actively removed garbage from the lake’s surface, emphasizing the critical need for preserving these water bodies.
The dialogue shed light on the illegal filling of small lakes for residential and commercial purposes, which activists claim is happening with the support of certain government officials and land mafia. This practice, they argued, not only undermines the ecological balance but also goes against the directives issued by the state government.
Dr. Anil Mehta, a prominent voice in the conversation, stressed that these small lakes are crucial to Udaipur's water stability. He pointed out that they have a significant role in maintaining the region’s water resources. Any damage to these lakes, he warned, is a direct assault on the natural heritage passed down by ancestors and nature itself. Dr. Mehta called for immediate action to stop this unlawful construction, labeling it a serious offense against the environment and community well-being.
