Fadnavis was unanimously elected State BJP Legislature Party leader; will be sworn in tomorrow, December 5, at Mumbai's Azad Maidan
December 4, 2024 - Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) tomorrow, December 5, after he was unanimously elected as the State BJP Legislature Party leader at a meeting in Mumbai this morning. His name was finalised for the CM post at the core committee meeting of the party held ahead of the legislature party meet.
Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were present in the core committee meeting.
After being elected leader, Fadnavis said: "I thank everyone from the Legislative Party that you all chose me unanimously. I thank our central observers Vijay Rupani and Nirmala Sitharaman also. As you all know these were historic elections and these elections have proved that Ek hai toh safe hai and Modi hai toh mumkin hai.
Fadnavis will meet the Governor at Raj Bhavan in a few minutes from now to lay stake to form the government. He will be accompanied by alliance partners Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. When he hands over the letter (on behalf of 236 MLAs) to form the government he automatically becomes the CM-designate
The CM swearing-in ceremony will be held in Mumbai's Azad Maidan tomorrow. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will attend the ceremony, several Union ministers, and 19 Chief Ministers and deputy CMs of various States are also expected to be present along with nearly 2,000 VVIPs and 40,000 supporters.
