Dewas Tunnel Final Excavation Completed

The excavation was delayed on Monday due to water leakage reported from the rocks; however engineers were quite sure to accomplish the final blast by Tuesday August 2.

Mohanlal Sukhadia water project’s- Dewas water tunnel was finally excavated at its other end today late in the afternoon.

Dewas Tunnel Final Excavation Completed

The excavation was delayed on Monday due to water leakage reported from the rocks; however engineers were quite sure to accomplish the final blast by Tuesday August 2. Now the water influx through the dewas tunnel into the lakes of Udaipur can be expected soon.

To rejoice this successful accomplishment, various political parties of Udaipur district celebrated by organizing mass prayers and bursting fire crackers.

District BJP party workers organized a Maha-Aarti at the Mahakaleshwar temple, while Congress (rural) celebrated the occasion by bursting fire crackers at Chetak Circle today evening.

Dewas Water Project renamed Mohanlal Sukhadia Water Project was started in the year 2006 as the biggest water tunnel project in Rajasthan, the total estimated cost of the project stood at a massive Rs. 379 crores.

Coastal Projects, the company that undertook the whole project,today completed the main tunnel stretching more than 11km and having a width of 5 and half meters.

No media personnel were allowed at the final blasting site; however sources confirmed that the work was completed by 3pm.
