Udaipur, March 15, 2025 - The plan to establish digital libraries in three engineering colleges of Rajasthan has not started yet. Due to technical difficulties, no progress has been made in the last two years, leaving these colleges excluded from the project.

Plan Introduced in 2022

In 2022, under the instructions of former Minister of State for Technical Education, Dr. Subhash Garg, a plan was made to set up digital libraries in Women's Engineering College Makhupura (Ajmer), Banswara, and Jhalawar Engineering College. The aim was to convert books into digital format and make them available on an online platform.

Software Purchased but Not Used

Some colleges purchased the required software for the digital libraries. However, due to technical issues, it could not be utilized, and the project did not move forward.

Missed Opportunities

Had the plan been successfully implemented, these colleges would have been connected to the AICTE and UGC libraries. The digital libraries were also expected to provide books on various subjects, including literature, history, theater, and global developments, benefiting students and faculty.

Existing Library Facilities

These engineering colleges already have traditional libraries with books on mechanical, electrical, electronics, and computer engineering. They also have journals, magazines, and books by various authors. However, they lack digital access, unlike other government educational institutions.
