Rajasthan Court Order in 32-Kg Gold Case Involving Banswara Dawoodi Bohra
In a recent order, Rajasthan High Court allows Fakhri Kardan Hasanat Trust to hand over the gold jewellery to the concerned individuals
UdaipurTimes, Oct 3, 2026 - The Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur has granted legal relief in the highly-publicised case involving around 32 kgs of gold belonging to 257 members of the Dawoodi Bohra community of Banswara.
In an order issued on September 29, 2026, the Court allowed the Fakhri Kardan Hasanat Trust to hand over the gold jewellery to the concerned individuals.
The case had been pending in Court owing to competing claims over the gold. Following a settlement between the parties, the High Court set aside two orders passed by the lower Court. The Trust is now free to hand over the jewellery to the concerned individuals. At present, the jewellery remains in the custody of the Trust.
It may be noted that the Kardan Hasanat Trust, located in Saifi Mohalla in Banswara, had a system under which members of the community could pledge their jewellery and obtain interest-free loans. In 2023, a case came to light involving the alleged disappearance of approximately 32 kg of gold pledged by 257 people. Two FIRs were subsequently registered in connection with the matter.
