The Aamil (appointed representative) of Udaipur’s Shia’a Dawoodi Bohra (Shabab) community who works as a viceroy to the Highest Authority of Dawoodi Bohras has faced stern protest by the community people for a suspected financial misconduct.

Two of his associates have also been subjected to alleged physical abuse by some of the conned victims.

Hundreds of community members seized the Delan, the community office of the Shia’a Dawoodi Bohra’s (Shabab) of Udaipur, located at Ashwini Bazar today early afternoon and demanded justice.

Dr. B. Momin, spokesperson of the Shia’a Dawoodi Bohra (Shabab) community told UT on phone that this is an internal issue of the community; he said “we are solving the matter accordingly and there is no need to make it a big issue.”

Another community member told UT, “duping hundreds of believers in the name of our Holy Priest is something that we cannot tolerate, however, the way some of our people reacted and behaved with our Aamil is also unacceptable, as violence is not our way.”

While some are supporting the agitation, the majority has opposed the action taken by people against the Aamil and his subordinates.

A female member of the community who did not wish to disclose her identity said “we Bohras are adhered to our Spiritual Leader and Dai-ul-Mutlaq Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin and our faith and love for him is endless but these people have tried to tarnish our community’s image. However, our belief for our Maula will not be affected by some people’s wrong doing.”
