District Collector Arvind Poswal convened a meeting on May 9,2024 at the Collectorate auditorium with Ola-Uber taxi operators in the city. The Collector stated that strict action will be taken by the police and transport department against those who collect more than the prescribed amount from tourists and other travellers coming here.
Complaints have been received for the past few days about Ola-Uber taxi operators collecting excessive fees arbitrarily at various places including the airport and tourist spots in the city, which is deemed unacceptable.
Responsibility towards Guests Emphasized
Collector Poswal addressed the vehicle drivers, reminding them that incoming tourists are guests, and their livelihood depends on these visits. He stressed the responsibility of ensuring that tourists reach their destinations with honesty and a service-oriented attitude. Poswal also emphasized the importance of maintaining the tourism city's reputation and ensuring the convenience of incoming tourists and travellers.
Police Warn Against Arbitrary Actions
SP Yogesh Goyal, in the meeting, urged all vehicle drivers to cooperate with the police administration and provide services to tourists and travellers at prescribed rates through mutual coordination. He warned that those who engage in arbitrary actions and violate regulations will face consequences.
Tourism Department's Presence and Cooperation Assured
Deputy Director of Tourism Department Shikha Saxena, alongside other departmental officials, attended the meeting with Ola-Uber taxi operators. At the end of the session, the vehicle drivers assured the administration of their full cooperation.
