Geetanjali Hospital’s Cardiac center operated division’s first angioplasty through Rotablation technique. Dr. Harish Sanadhya and Dr. C.P Purohit treated the patient of heart attack successfully.

Cardiac Specialist Dr. Harish Sanadhya said that Govind Vyas, a 49 year old man, resident of Bhilwara had suffered a heart attack on 16th December and was hospitalized. After check up it was found that his two arteries were blocked.

Left artery (LAD) was successfully treated through angioplasty however, the right artery (RCA) was blocked severely due to calcium deposits which was unable to be treated through balloon.

Dr. Sanadhya and Dr. Purohit’s team collaboratively unblocked the right artery through the technique of Rotablation and portrayed the first ever example in the entire division.

What is Rotablation?

When the plaque or the calcium deposits become too hard to be treated with balloon expansion in the artery, a burr is inserted in the artery that drills at a speed of 1,50,000-2,00,000 RPM breaking the deposits. Later the balloon is expanded and stents are implanted.

This technique is available at Fortis and Narayan Hridayalaya at Jaipur and Geetanjali Hospital at Udaipur only, informed Dr. Purohit.
