January 20, 2025 – US-President elect Donald Trump will take oath as the 47th President of the United States at 12:00 pm ET (10:30 pm IST) for the second time. The swearing-in ceremony will be held inside the United States Capitol Rotunda in Washington DC, instead of the West Front of the U.S. Capitol owing to the unexpected cold weather. This will be the first time in 40 years that the ceremony will be held indoors.

According to Inaugural Committee, the one-hour event will begin with a musical prelude by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Combined Choirs and "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band.

The first to take the oath will be Vice President-elect JD Vance. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will administer the oath following which country singer Carrie Underwood will perform America the Beautiful.

Chief Justice John Roberts will then administer the Presidential oath to Trump, who has already served as the 45th President of the US from 2017 to 2021. Following the oath, Trump will deliver his inaugural address.

The ceremony will end with a benediction from religious leaders, including Rabbi Dr Ari Berman, Imam Husham Al-Husainy and Pastor Lorenzo Sewell.

The National Anthem - The Star-Spangled Banner - will be performed by opera singer and member of the New York Tenors Christopher Macchio who has been selected by Trump. In 2021, the National Anthem was performed by Lady Gaga at President Joe Biden’s inauguration while in 2013 Beyoncé sang at President Barack Obama’s.

Macchio will also perform a “musical selection” before the Vice-Presidential and Presidential oaths of office.

In 1933 an amendment was made to the US Constitution after which the ceremony is held every four years on January 20. If 20th is a Sunday then the ceremony is held on January 21. The rule in the 20th Amendment is that the incumbent Presidential term will end at noon and the new President will be sworn in shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation founder and chairperson Nita Ambani extended their congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump at a private reception in Washington DC yesterday, January 19.

India’s Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar will represent India at the ceremony. Other world leaders expected to be present include China Vice-President, Foreign Ministers of Japan and Australia, all past US Presidents. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will also be seen.
