Dr Ashwin Dalvi Takes Over as Director of West Zone Cultural Centre

Dr Ashwin Dalvi takes charge as Director of West Zone Cultural Centre in Udaipur; he is a renowned Sur-Bahar artist and expected to give new direction and momentum to the activities of WZCC

Udaipur, March 20 - Dr Ashwin Mahesh Dalvi assumed charge as Director of the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) on Thursday (March 19) for a tenure of three years. He has previously served as Chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi, Rajasthan (with the status of Minister of State).

A renowned Sur-Bahar player from the Etawah Gharana and a disciple of sitar maestro Pandit Arvind Parikh, Dr Dalvi has established a distinguished identity through his performances on prestigious national and international platforms. He is the son of the late eminent art guru Mahesh Dalvi.

Furqan Khan, Director of the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, who was holding the additional charge of Director WZCC, formally welcomed Dr Dalvi and handed over the charge at the office. Officials and staff members of the centre were present on the occasion.

Under Dr Dalvi’s leadership, the activities of WZCC are expected to gain new direction and momentum. WZCC oversees cultural activities across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
