The Principal and Controller of the Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College of Udaipur Dr Vipin Mathur launched a book for MBBS students, titled 'Physiology Simplified'. The author of the book is Dr. Asif Patel. The book iss written by Dr. Asif when he was pursuing MBBS at Mumbai.
Dr. Mathur while speaking at the event, appreciated Dr. Asif for his efforts and also for launching it at Udaipur. He emphasized on the importance of reading standard medical text books and understanding the subject thoroughly. He also discussed about the changing patterns of education, with students shifting to shortcuts, online resources while putting the books on a backburner.
While talking about the book, Mathur indicated that it might help in increasing the interest of the students in standard text books, and itself is not a substitute to them.
Dr. Mathur was accompanied by Dr Sandeep Kansara (Head of Dept of Endocrinology), Dr. Shuchi Goyal (Head of Dept. of Biochemistry), Dr. Urmila Chaudhary (Asst. Professor of Physiology), Dr. Mona Sood (Asst Professor, Endocrinology). They all shared their insights about the book too.
While talking about his book Dr. Asif Patel said that the book was written in question and answer format with standard medical textbooks as reference.
Dr. Patel said that he started writing his book in the year 2014, when he was studying in the second year of MBBS at Mumbai.
He further said that it took Over a year to complete the book as it was upgraded and modified before getting published.
He said that the unique thing about the book is that it uses simple "Indian English" to explain complex concepts of physiology written by foreign authors.
