7.2 Magnitude earthquake Strikes Myanmar

Tremors felt in Thailand and China

Udaipur, March 28, 2025 - A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Friday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The quake hit 16 km northwest of Sagaing at a depth of 10 km around 12:50 PM local time (0620 GMT). People in Bangkok, Thailand, felt strong tremors, causing panic as many ran out onto the streets. Water splashed out of swimming pools, and alarms rang in high-rise buildings, leading residents to evacuate.

The quake was also felt in China’s Yunnan province, where authorities measured it at 7.9 magnitude. In Thailand, a building under construction collapsed due to the strong tremors.
