PM e-Bus Seva to launch 1,100 e-buses across Rajasthan in two phases; Udaipur to get 50 buses in Phase 1
Udaipur, July 28, 2025 - Electric buses will begin operating in Udaipur and seven other cities in Rajasthan starting January 2026. This is part of the PM e-Bus Seva initiative which aims to provide cleaner and efficient public transportation while also generating employment. There will be a total 1,100 electric buses across Rajasthan with buses being rolled out initially in Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Alwar, Bharatpur, Kota and Ajmer.
Smart depots are being constructed in all these cities to support the new service, and the work is scheduled to be completed by December 2025. Once the depot work is finished, 675 electric buses will be introduced in the first phase and 425 in the second phase across the State with Central Government support.
In Udaipur, the depot is expected to be ready by October, with 50% of the construction work already complete and electrical installations currently underway. Udaipur will receive 50 buses in Phase 1. These buses will operate on routes designated by the Transport Department. If new routes are needed, detailed plans will be created and approved accordingly.
