Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present Economic Survey 2025–26 in Parliament today; Prime Minister Modi highlights India-EU FTA as a boost for Indian manufacturers
Jan 29, 2026 - Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey 2025-26 in Parliament on Thursday (January 29) between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm. The Economic Survey, which has been prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, will give an insight into the economy of the country in 2025-26. It will provide an outlook for the upcoming fiscal year and the GDP growth outlook. The Economic Survey will review how the Indian economy has performed over the past financial year
This will be followed by a press conference by Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), V Anantha Nageswaran.
The Economic Survey 2026 will offer a comprehensive review of the Indian economy ahead of the Union Budget 2026 which will be presented on February 1, 2026. This is the first time in history of India that the Union Budget is being presented on a Sunday.
Ahead of the Economic Survey 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media. In his briefing, he highlighted the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Talking to the press, the PM said: “The FTA with EU is for ambitious India, urge manufacturers to benefit from new markets opening for them,” adding that an India full of confidence has “emerged a ray of hope for the world”.
