Eid Celebrated With Immense Joy In Udaipur
Eid-Ul-Adha or popularly called Bakri-Eid was celebrated by Muslims in India today. This is one of the most important festivals for Muslims across the globe. The date of the festival is decided according to the moon calendar. This year it falls on 18th November 2010.

This festival also coincides with the anniversary of the day when Quran was declared. Muslims undertake Hajj to Mecca and millions of people converge each year to Mecca from different corners of the world.
Also, this day marks Qurbani which forms the most integral part of Bakri-Eid. The sacrifice of goat, sheep or camel takes place and the meat is distributed among friends and family. People observe fast for two days just before Eid and relish special sweets and delicacies are prepared on this occasion.
With a population of around 1.5 lakh Muslims, celebrations in Udaipur were held on the large scale. The day starts with offering Namaz and thus people gathered at nearby mosques to offer Namaz.
Children wore new clothes and enjoyed the festivities; people visited each other and exchanged greetings. Many small children with their families were seen enjoying various swings at Hathi Pol. This year around 10 to 15 thousand animals were sold for Qurbani in Udaipur. The costliest goat sold was for around Rs. 40000. People hugged each other and gave Eid greetings as it is the traditional way to express their love and happiness on the auspicious occasion of Eid.
The occasion was celebrated with lot of joy and love all over the city and the celebration was completed in a peaceful manner.
