During an inspection conducted by Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam, electricity theft was discovered at a hotel situated in the Gulab Bagh area of the city. According to Girish Joshi, the Superintend Engineer of the corporation, Assistant Engineer Nisha Menaria, along with her team, conducted an inspection of the electricity connection at Blu Orchid Hotel located in Jal Darshan Bazar.

During the team's investigation, it was discovered that there was no current on one phase of the meter. This raised suspicion of electricity theft, prompting a thorough examination of the meter's connection. Joshi stated that the investigation revealed the consumer's illicit consumption of electricity, accomplished by tampering with the main service line of the meter. The consumer had cut the line and directly connected a black cable to the load of the main switch panel inside the hotel.

The Corporation acknowledged that the consumer's act of stealing electricity in this manner resulted in an inaccurate meter reading. Subsequently, Superintending Engineer Bhawani Shankar Sharma, Executive Engineer, and Vigilance Officer Sandeep Kothari were informed about the incident of theft committed by the consumer.

Following the incident, the vigilance branch initiated an investigation and prepared a Violation Case Report (VCR), estimating a revenue loss of approximately Rs 14 lakh. Additionally, the team from Power House-1, consisting of Junior Engineers, promptly disconnected the electricity supply to the hotel at the site.
