The workers of electricity department protested against proposed privatization of State Electricity board. The workers also gave memorandum to C.M with demands of taking back the proposal of privatization.

Sajjan Singh Bumb, General Secretary, INTUC, informed that ideology of state government behind this privatization is to provide financial benefits to bigger corporates. The privatization will result in increase of electricity rates, which will be an extra burden on the common man. On the other hand, department will also suffer from heavy losses in state revenue.

Bumb added that privatization must be applied on departments which are incurring heavy losses and also suffering from insufficient staff. The present electricity board is generating sufficient revenues without any losses.

Bumb also added that in this first phase of protest they demonstrated outside District Headquarter and presented memorandum in the name of Chief Minister and Ministry of Power Supply. In the next phase, they will demonstrate at Zonal headquarters at Jodhpur and Ajmer. If government does not agree on their terms then they will also demonstrate at state headquarters in Jaipur, where local citizens will also be included.
