Elevated Road: Foundation Ceremony Today, Nov. 18

Ceremony for the Rs 137-crore project will be held on Nagar Nigam premises at 4:00 pm

Udaipur, November 18, 2024 - The foundation stone laying ceremony of the proposed elevated road will be held today at 4:00 pm on the Udaipur Nagar Nigam premises. The Chief Guest for the event will be Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. The ceremony will be presided over by Urban Governance Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra. Others who will attend include MP Mannalal Rawat, city MLA Tarachand Jain, rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena and BJP city district president Ravindra Shrimali, Mayor Govind Singh Tank, Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi and all councillors.

The two-lane elevated Rs 137-crore flyover project will be 2.7 km-long and will stretch from City Station to the Collector’s residence. Nagar Nigam had floated a tender worth Rs 179.14 crore for the project while the DPR had estimated the cost at Rs 208 crore. The project was opened to bidders and 12 agencies had pitched for it. Transrail Lighting Private Limited was awarded the project after it emerged the lowest bidder at Rs 136.89 crore.

Currently, the road from City Station to the Collector's residence bears a daily traffic load of 69,268 vehicles. This is estimated to increase to 80,000 by 2025 and 1,14,869 by 2030.
