Key meeting held by Udaipur Municipal Corporation
An important meeting on the construction of the elevated road from City Station to Court Chouraha was organized by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation on Thursday, October 24,2024. The meeting was attended by Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain, Mayor Govind Singh Tank, Commissioner Ram Prakash, and heads of various committees, councilors, and officials.
Budget and DPR for the Elevated Road
During the meeting, Mayor Govind Singh Tank shared that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared for the elevated road, estimating a cost of Rs. 208 crore. In the 2024-25 revised budget, Rs. 210 crore was approved for the project.
Construction Details
The long-awaited elevated road will be built from Udaipur City Railway Station to Banshi Pan, near Court Chouraha, at an approved cost of Rs. 136.89 crore. The technical tender was first invited on August 7 and opened on September 19, leading to the final selection of Transrail Lighting Private Limited to execute the project.
Tender Process and Selection
The Municipal Corporation invited tenders for the project, following Ministry of Road Transport and Highways regulations. The project was issued under the EPC mode with a two-bid system. In this system, bidders were first assessed on technical qualifications, followed by financial bids for those who qualified.
A total of twelve firms participated and reviewed the site. All twelve firms met the technical requirements, after which the financial bids were opened. The lowest bid, submitted by Transrail Lighting Private Limited, was Rs. 136.89 crore. The competitive rates submitted by all firms showed only minor differences.
Approval from the Local Self-Government Department
After receiving the lowest bid, the rates were approved by the Department of Local Self-Government, Jaipur. The Directorate also approved the proposal with the condition that it be presented before the Municipal Corporation board. The board meeting was held, and the proposal was unanimously approved.
