Prayers, tribute to Pahalgam victims and procession mark Dawoodi Bohra Hajj pilgrims’ departure
Udaipur, April 28, 2025 – A farewell ceremony for 44 pilgrims going on the holy journey of Hajj this year from the reformist Dawoodi Bohra community (Bohra Youth) was held yesterday, April 27. The pilgrims were given an emotional send-off by community members, relatives and friends.
The function began from 10:30 am at the Bohrawadi Jamaatkhana where the pilgrims gathered with their families. Members of the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat (DBJ) and the Dawoodi Bohra Hajj Committee felicitated the pilgrims with garlands.
The programme took off with students of the School of Deeni Taleem reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Following this, a two-minute silence was observed in tribute to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22.
Sahil Ahmed Beawarwala and Hussain Attari recited Na’at and Manqabat (religious poetry).
Mansoor Ali Commander, Chairperson of the Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community (CBDBC); CBDBC patron Abid Adeeb; DBJ president Iqbal Hussain Rassawala; DBJ Secretary Firoz Hussain Tinwala addressed the gathering and requested the pilgrims to pray for peace and prosperity in the community and the nation during their pilgrimage.
The event was conducted by Ali Asghar Khilonawala.
After the ceremony, a procession was taken out from the Jamaatkhana with the pilgrims accompanied by their families and friends. During the procession, traditional music was played, religious verses were recited and people at various points offered sherbet and showered flowers. The procession passed through major routes of Bohrawadi and concluded at the Rasoolpura Masjid where the pilgrims offered Zuhr, Asr and Shukr prayers.
