Gawari dance-drama, a traditional performance of the Bhil tribal community from Mewar, will be celebrated in Udaipur. The festival, known for its cultural richness, is held in worship of Mother Gauri and aims for prosperity, peace, and the well-being of families and livestock.
A two-day Gawari festival is organized at Lok Kala Mandal, Udaipur. The festival will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and entry for visitors will be free.
To promote this unique tradition, the Gawari performances have been staged in Udaipur since 2016. This year, under the joint auspices of the Indian Folk Art Academy and the Tribal Research and Training Institute, a series of performances are scheduled.
The Gawari dance from Karnali village will be held on September 11, 2024, and from Sonaria village on September 12, 2024. Additional performances will take place at Saheliyon Ki Bari on September 19 and 20, 2024, and at Fateh Sagar on September 23 and 24, 2024.
