Explosion in Islamabad Mosque During Prayers: At Least 31 Feared Killed

A powerful explosion at a Shia mosque in Islamabad during Friday prayers has left dozens feared dead and more than 150 injured; suspected to be a suicide attack

Feb 6, 2026 - At least 31 are feared killed and more than 150 injured in an explosion at a Shia mosque in the Pakistan capital city of Islamabad during Friday prayers on February 6. Rescue teams have rushed to the spot and transferred the wounded to hospital.

According to reports, the blast occurred at Khadija Tul Kubra mosque in Tarlai Kalan.

The cause of the blast and the motive are yet to be determined, according to Islamabad police spokesperson. The incident is being reported as a suicide attack although there was no official confirmation of the same yet.

No group had claimed responsibility at the time of initial reports.
