Explosives Seized from Faridabad 'Detonate' at J&K Police Station: 9 Dead
Initial reports term the incident as an accident; most victims are police and forensic officers; dozens hospitalised
Nov 15, 2025 - At least nine people were said to be killed and around 30 injured in a major blast that occurred on Friday night inside a police station in Srinagar after explosives seized in Faridabad detonated. The death toll is likely to go up with many critically injured, say sources.
Most of the dead were policemen and forensic team officers. As per reports, at least 24 police personnel and three civilians have been admitted to hospitals.
It is believed that around 350 kgs of ammonium nitrate, seized earlier this week in connection with the terror network operating from Faridabad, exploded while the police teams were handling it. The seized explosives were stored in the Srinagar police station where the case against the terror module had first been registered.
The explosion occurred at the Nowgam police station in Srinagar. Initial reports say it was an accident although all angles are being probed. The Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has cautioned people from speculating and wait for the cause of the blast to be ascertained.
