Aug 5, 2025 - India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched the Aadhaar-based face authentication service across the country. Now, customers can perform banking tasks at post offices - such as opening an account, checking balance, transferring money and paying bills - simply through facial recognition, without the need for a thumbprint or OTP.
This service brings significant relief to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and rural customers who often face difficulties with fingerprint or OTP-based verification.
The service will be made accessible across 1.6 lakh post offices and through more than 3 lakh postal employees, reaching even the remotest areas of the country.
